I Took Your Spot

I do something, on purpose, that bothers many people. I sit in “their” seat. Yep. I’m that guy. I once had a college professor who challenged us to not do the same thing every time we entered a room, a meeting, or class. He had us all switch seats for the day rather than go to the same spot.

We’ve all heard about changing the perspective, but how often do we do it? What’s the purpose? One is that I’m sitting next to and talking to someone different. I’m also seeing things from a different angle and getting to see what life is like on the other side of the room.

The last break you did on the radio might have been good, but could it have been better if you had looked at it from a different perspective (while sitting somewhere different, next to a person you don’t often talk to)?

Sure, I’m often met with that stunned look of “hey, that’s my spot.” But, I have accomplished two goals. The “church lady” is forced to find a new spot and change her perspective. Second, it makes me giggle inside.
